Name Origin: Xiao Qiao inherited her mother’s graceful appearance, which quickly became evident after her birth. She has slender legs, adorable rounded face, and large, expressive ears that have earned her comparisons to Mickey Mouse. Her heart-shaped nose adds a touch of sweetness to her appearance, accentuating her gentle nature. Her caretakers, captivated by her beauty, decided to name her after the renowned beauty Xiao Qiao from the Three Kingdoms era, an iconic figure in Chinese history known for her grace and charm.

Personality Traits: Known for her gentle and friendly disposition, Xiao Qiao is highly sociable and easily bonds with other pandas. Xiao Qiao has a particular fondness for apples, which has earned her the nickname “Apple Qiao.” She remains calm and unbothered even if another panda tries to snatch her food, though she will put up a gentle protest if someone tries to take her precious apples.

Life Experience of Panda Xiao Qiao

Youthful Days: In June 2014, Xiao Qiao moved to the youth enclosure, where she became part of a close-knit group known as the “Seven Little Pandas,” alongside pandas Oreo (奥莉奥), Miao Miao (淼淼), Si Yi (思一), Cheng Shuang (成双), Cheng Dui (成对), and Yuan Run (园润). This group of playful companions formed strong bonds during their time together.

Relocation Adventures: Xiao Qiao has had several moves throughout her life. On March 18, 2016, she and her nephew, Si Yi, relocated to the Longtan Grand Canyon Panda House in Luoyang, Henan. They stayed there until March 6, 2019, when they returned to the Chengdu Panda Base. Shortly after, on May 28, 2020, Xiao Qiao and her younger brother Xiao Chuan (小川) moved again to the Yili Eco-Friendly Park in Tianjin’s Binhai New Area.

Daily Enjoyments: At her new home in the Yili Eco-Friendly Park, Xiao Qiao is known for her love of seasonal treats. During persimmon season, she has become something of a “persimmon foodie,” enjoying her snacks so contentedly that it encourages others to join her in indulging in the ripe fruit. Watching her savor each bite brings joy to her caretakers and visitors, adding to her allure as one of the most beloved pandas in the park.
