Ke Ke (可可/Keke), also known as Sweet Ke, is as charming as her name suggests. Born in the heart of China’s Wolong Shenshuping Base, this playful panda has captured hearts with her sweet nature. Her journey took a thrilling turn when she, along with her companion An An, became a special gift to Hong Kong, bringing joy and excitement to the region. Now, Ke Ke’s new life at Ocean Park is one of love, adaptation, and endless cuddles.

Life Experience of Panda Ke Ke

Early Life: From a young age, Ke Ke thrived at the Wolong Shenshuping Base

Travel to Hongkong: On September 26, 2024, Ke Ke, alongside the male panda An An (安安), was gifted by the central government to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, becoming the third pair of giant pandas to be sent to Hong Kong. Upon their arrival at Ocean Park Hong Kong, they received a warm welcome from the local community, highlighting the strong bond between the pandas and the people of Hong Kong.

Adaptation: To ensure a smooth transition for Ke Ke and An An to their new home, the China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center conducted a comprehensive health assessment and arranged for experts and caretakers to engage in in-depth discussions with the staff at Ocean Park. This collaboration allowed the Hong Kong keepers to familiarize themselves with the pandas’ personalities and habits, fostering trust and ensuring that Ke Ke and An An would thrive in their new environment.

Naming Contest: On October 2, 2024, the Hong Kong SAR Government’s Leisure and Cultural Services Department held a “Naming Contest” and large-scale drawing competition for the giant pandas “An An” and “Keke,” which ran until the 27th. It was ultimately decided to keep their original names and not make any changes.

Debut: On December 8, 2024, An An and Ke Ke officially met with Hong Kong residents and visitors.
