Intriguing Details of Panda Wu Lin

Name Meaning: The name “Wu Lin” symbolizes good health and exceptional ability. It not only holds significant meaning in Chinese culture (a society formed by martial artists) but also complements the majestic yet adorable nature of giant pandas, showcasing Wu Lin’s strength and charm.

Mighty Appetite: Perhaps due to his name, Wu Lin has a large, sturdy build with strong limbs. He’s not a picky eater -bamboo, bamboo shoots, carrots, and steamed corn buns are all his favorites. He happily devours whatever is offered.

Food Conservationist: Wu Lin is very mindful of not wasting food. After finishing his meal, he meticulously licks every crumb off his little table with his small tongue. He doesn’t mind picking up any food that has fallen on the ground, eating it all to ensure nothing goes to waste.

Quiet Bear: Wu Lin doesn’t like loud noises. If he’s munching on bamboo shoots and hears shouting nearby, he’ll immediately carry his food and walk away to find a quieter spot. He’s also a bit shy – once, while he was eating, a keeper gently patted his paw with affection. Wu Lin quickly pulled his paw back, lowered his head, as if saying, “What are you doing? Everyone’s watching!”

In a new chapter of his life, Wu Lin was relocated to the Wuhan Zoo on September 9, 2023, alongside a female panda named Meng Meng (盟盟). Together, they formed the team of “武林盟主”, meaning “Leader of the Martial Arts Alliance”.
