Life Experience of Panda Yuan Yuan
Early Life: From the moment of his birth, Yuan Yuan has been under the expert care and management at the Wolong Shenshuping Base. In late 2020, Yuan Yuan moved from Wolong to the Yaan Bifengxia Base, where he continued to thrive.
Volunteer Ambassador: On December 14, 2020, Yuan Yuan and another panda named Zhi Zhi (志志) were designated as “Panda Heroes” ambassadors by the Communist Youth League of Sichuan Province and the China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center. This initiative marked the first time giant pandas served as volunteer ambassadors in the country, showcasing their role in promoting conservation awareness.
Move to Yueyang: On July 18, 2023, Yuan Yuan, along with several other pandas – including Hao Yue (皓月), Xi Yue (喜悦), Xiang Ye (向野), Hua Long (华龙), Shen Shen (深深), Man Man (漫漫), Ming Ming (明明), Zhuang Zhuang (壮壮), and Zhao Yang (朝阳) – was relocated to the Yueyang China Giant Panda Park, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his life.
Foodie Panda: Yuan Yuan is a very shy and quiet panda, whose life goal is simply to eat, eat, and eat. Every time you see him, he’s either eating or on his way to get food. His weight has now exceeded 150 kilograms, making him the heaviest panda at the Yueyang Giant Panda Park.
Birthday Celebration: As his first birthday in Yueyang approached, staff at the Giant Panda Park prepared a special celebration for Yuan Yuan on August 10, 2024. The highlight of the birthday party was a custom-made cake created just for him, adding a touch of joy and festivity to his special day.
