Birth: A Bao was born on September 7, 2010, at the Madrid Zoo, alongside his twin brother De De. This remarkable event marked them as the first set of giant panda twins conceived through artificial insemination in an overseas zoo.

Back to China: On May 18, 2013, A Bao and his brother De De returned to China, arriving at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. This return was particularly significant, as it marked the 11th panda to come back to China since the inception of the long-term international breeding cooperation program established in 1994, which involved countries like the United States, Japan, and Canada.

Relocations: A Bao’s journey included a brief period in December 2016, when he was sent to Huai’an Zoo in Jiangsu Province for a breeding program. He returned to the Chengdu research base on July 20, 2020, continuing his important role in panda conservation efforts.
