Zhao Yang (朝阳/Zhaoyang/Chaoyang), often called the “Long-Legged Prince of the Panda Garden,” captures attention with his distinctive “melon seed-shaped” face and graceful demeanor. Born on July 27, 2010, at the Ya’an Bifengxia Base, this panda’s journey has been anything but ordinary. From his early days alongside his siblings to his travels across China, Zhao Yang’s life is marked by change, resilience, and a deep, enduring bond with his companion Qing Shan.

Intriguing Details of Panda Zhao Yang

Zhao Yang is easily recognizable by his distinctive “melon seed-shaped” face and slim shoulders, which make him stand out in any group. His fans affectionately call him “The Long-Legged Prince of the Panda Garden.” Unlike his energetic companion Qing Shan, Zhao Yang is reserved and refined, earning him the title of a “little gentleman.” Despite their different personalities, the two pandas share an inseparable bond, having lived together since childhood and developed a deep friendship over the years.

Life Experience of Panda Zhao Yang

Childhood at Bifengxia Base: Zhao Yang spent his early years at the Ya’an Bifengxia Base, growing up alongside his twin sister, Cai Yun, and their other siblings.

Move to Nanjing: On September 29, 2012, Zhao Yang embarked on his first “work trip” with another panda, Qing Shan (青山, also known as Hao Hao 浩浩), to Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo. On June 1, 2017, Zhao Yang returned to Sichuan and moved to the Dujiangyan Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.

Move to Shandong: On February 13, 2018, Zhao Yang and Qing Shan went on another “business trip” to the Longkou Wildlife and Botanical Garden in Shandong. However, compared to the Nanjing Hongshan Zoo, the environment at Longkou Wildlife and Botanical Garden was relatively simple, and Zhao Yang’s life there was not very comfortable. He even fell ill. At the request of fans, the two pandas returned to Sichuan in 2021 for recovery. Fortunately, they quickly regained their health.

New Chapter in Yueyang: The most recent chapter of Zhao Yang’s life began on July 18, 2023, when he was transferred to Yueyang China Giant Panda Garden, along with Hao Yue (皓月), Xi Yue (喜悦), and other pandas. Here, Zhao Yang enjoys a stable and happy life.
