On February 8, 2025, to celebrate the official debut of the new pair of giant pandas, “Bao Li” and “Qing Bao,” the Chinese Embassy in the United States was invited to attend the “Giant Panda Special Zone Party” held at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. Despite the light snow that fell on the day of the event, thousands of American visitors came to see the new panda pair, “Bao Li” and “Qing Bao.”

At the zoo’s indoor venue, visitors had the chance to engage in various activities such as calligraphy, paper cutting, coloring, crafts, and nail art, all centered around pandas. They created panda-themed paper plates, made panda-themed nails, and even built panda Lego sets. Additionally, they tasted panda-shaped snacks carefully prepared by the embassy’s chefs. Visitors also had the opportunity to view an exhibition of images of giant pandas in the U.S. designed by ipanda, and take photos with a giant panda mascot.
The event featured a Q&A and message board section where “panda fans” eagerly answered questions related to China-U.S. panda conservation cooperation and left messages of well-wishes for the new pandas. Participants received panda-themed souvenirs, including plush toys, books, Chinese tourism brochures, and cultural and creative products themed around “Bao Li” and “Qing Bao.”
Many visitors expressed that the event, with its diverse activities and innovative format, deepened their love for giant pandas and enhanced their understanding of China-U.S. panda conservation efforts.
