Intriguing Details of Panda Ku Ku
Name Origin: Ku Ku is the youngest of the world’s first surviving giant panda triplets. He was born on July 29, 2014, alongside his sister Meng Meng and brother Shuai Shuai at Guangzhou Chimelong Safari Park. When the triplets turned one month old, a global naming campaign was launched to find suitable names for the three cubs. On December 15, 2014, during a special event held by Chimelong Safari Park, the names of the panda triplets were officially revealed, with Ku Ku receiving his name.
Cute and Handsome: Ku Ku has a uniquely handsome look with his pentagon-shaped face. He is also the first panda to have his own little train. Inside his enclosure, he can often be seen leisurely enjoying his food while sitting on the slowly moving train.
Master of Winning Over Keepers: Ku Ku knows exactly how to charm his keepers. Whenever he wants a snack, he uses his signature “head tilt” move, melting the hearts of his caretakers, who end up giving him whatever he wants.
A Gentle Giant: Despite being a large male panda, Ku Ku has a gentle personality and rarely gets into fights. When he used to live next to his elder sister, Meng Meng, she often “educated” him. Later, after Meng Meng moved to the back area to care for her cub, his new neighbor became Mei Qing (梅清), a retired panda. However, Mei Qing, despite her age, had quite a temper. One day, Ku Ku happily called out as he was about to finish his day, only to be scolded by Mei Qing. Since then, he has remained silent at closing time, never making a sound.
