Name Origin: The names “Xing Yu” and her twin brother “Xing Yuan” were chosen by a group of panda enthusiasts and caretakers who wanted names that captured their affection for this pair born on June 30, 2014. The names reflect the endless love and hope that both the caretakers and mother Ya Xing have for these pandas, with “Xing Yu” (Star Language) and “Xing Yuan” (Star Wish) symbolizing beautiful wishes for the twins’ futures.

Appearance: Xing Yu has a distinctive beauty mark on the right side of her nose that has become more noticeable over the years.

Personality: Xing Yu is known for her playful and lively personality. Her caretakers affectionately describe her as a “tomboy,” full of energy and always eager for an adventure.Xing Yu has some unique habits, such as occasionally walking backward and playfully darting across the grass.

Life Experience of Panda Xing Yu

Early Years: Xing Yu was born on June 30, 2014, at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, part of the first pair of giant panda twins born at the base that year. By November of the same year, she became the first cub in her group to learn how to walk.

Wild Training: On June 25, 2015, Xing Yu, her mother Ya Xing, and her twin brother Xing Yuan left the Chengdu base for Dujiangyan Panda Valley to begin a wild training program. This training was designed to help young pandas develop the skills needed for life outside of a controlled environment, allowing Xing Yu to explore and adapt to a more natural setting with her family.

Return to Base: On July 6, 2017, Xing Yu and Xing Yuan returned to the Chengdu Research Base, where they continued to thrive under the care of the dedicated staff.

Relocation to Quanzhou: On February 7, 2018, Xing Yu and her twin brother Xing Yuan were relocated to the Haichang Quanzhou World of Wildlife. Just a few days later, on February 11, the two siblings made their official debut at the panda sanctuary in Quanzhou. To welcome them, the wildlife park invested over 20 million RMB to create a 1,200-square-meter panda home, featuring lush greenery, artificial mountains, streams, and a spacious area that closely resembles their natural habitat. This environment, designed to provide both comfort and enrichment, includes a luxurious outdoor garden and even a pool, creating an ideal setting for Xing Yu and Xing Yuan to thrive in their new home.
