Brith and Name: At birth, Qi San Mei was initially assessed as female, weighing only 185 grams. After her birth, she was cared for primarily by her mother, Hao Qi, with minimal human intervention, as is typical for panda cubs. As the third cub of her mother, she was named “Qi San Mei,” following the naming tradition based on her birth order in the family.

Three Months: By the time she reached three months old, on September 28, 2024, Qi San Mei had made remarkable progress. She weighed 5.8 kilograms and had developed the ability to open her eyes. During this time, she began to explore her surroundings and show interest in climbing and crawling. At four months old, Qi San Mei amazed everyone by mastering the skill of tree climbing.

Public Debut: On September 28, 2024, Chongqing Zoo held a special event for the public to meet the adorable panda cub. The event was a huge success, attracting a large number of visitors eager to see Qi San Mei for the first time.

Public Education: In November 2024, on the occasion of “Panda Action” during the “Explore Chongqing, Love Giant Pandas” campaign, a special event was held at the zoo. Students from Nanan Yifeng Experimental School, guided by panda experts, visited the panda exhibit and celebrated Qi San Mei’s first half-year birthday with a themed class meeting.
