Life Experience of Panda Qian Qian
Personalities: Qian Qian is known for her energetic and playful nature. She loved climbing on her mother, biting and pawing at her affectionately during their time together. Her enthusiasm extended to humans, as well—when staff fed her supplementary milk, she would excitedly rush over and cling to their legs, refusing to let go.
Relocation to Yunnan: In 2008, following the devastating Wenchuan Earthquake, the Hetaoping Base was severely damaged. As a result, Qian Qian, along with several other pandas, was relocated to the Yunnan Wildlife Park. rary home.
Return to Sichuan: In 2012, Qian Qian became the first panda to return to Sichuan as part of the “2012 Panda Homecoming” initiative. On July 16, she was relocated to the Bifengxia Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Ya’an.
First Birth: On June 27, 2015, Qian Qian gave birth to twin sons, Ping Ping (平平) and Ya Xing (雅星), at Bifengxia. The name “Ping Ping” symbolizes world peace, and due to his snow-white fur, he was also nicknamed “White Qian Qian.” As a cub, Ping Ping was featured in a report by National Geographic. In 2017, Ping Ping, along with his peers He He (和和) and Jiu Jiu (九九), moved to Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo. Ya Xing had a small flat head, a simple and honest appearance, and was affectionately nicknamed “Little Silly Star.” Energetic, mischievous, and active, he was once the most lively giant panda in Dujiangyan, earning the nickname “Little Overlord of Dujiangyan.”
Another Trip: On September 30, 2016, Qian Qian traveled to Zhuyi City in Qingshen County, Meishan, accompanied by Su Xing (苏星). On February 3, 2017, she returned to the Bifengxia Base in Ya’an, with Hua Rong (华荣) taking over her role in Meishan. That year, Qian Qian didn’t have any offspring but managed to fit in anothertrip.
Second Birth: On September 19, 2017, Qian Qian went to Shanghai Wild Animal Park to prepare for childbirth. On October 4, 2017, she gave birth to a daughter named Qian Jin (芊金). In the same year, another cub named Xue Bao (雪宝), born to Si Xue (思雪), was also delivered at the Shanghai Wild Animal Park.
Third Birth: On July 26, 2020, Qian Qian gave birth to twin daughters, Qian Zhen (芊真) and Qian Xin (芊心), at Shenshuping. She personally raised both daughters until they were over three years old.
