Life Experience of Panda Cheng Gong
Birth and Early Life: Cheng Gong entered the world alongside her twin sister Cheng Ji at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. From an early age, she was known for her unique physical feature – her shoulder strap was broken, which contributed to her distinctive appearance. Cheng Gong also developed a reputation for her cleanliness, which ultimately earned her the affectionate title of “Princess of Cleanliness.”
Move to Shenzhen: On April 27, 2002, Cheng Gong was transferred to the Shenzhen Wild Animal Park.
Adoption: By October 24, 2002, she was adopted for life by the Hong Kong Choh-Ming Li Foundation, where she received the name “Tian Tian (天天).”
Back to Chengdu: In April 2004, she returned to the Chengdu Research Base, continuing her journey as a key ambassador for panda conservation.
Death: Tragically, on the evening of September 2, 2023, the night caretaker reported that Cheng Gong was in good health. However, the following morning, she was found deceased in her enclosure at the age of 23, equivalent to about 70-80 years in human terms.
