Appearance: He Ye’s appearance is marked by several distinctive features: A prominent black vertical line runs down her nose, making her easily recognizable; Her narrow shoulder straps are inherited from her mother, Cheng Gong, who has a broken shoulder strap characteristic, although this feature is less pronounced in He Ye; Her long, antenna-like eyelashes add to her charming and adorable appearance.

Nickname: In March 2021, He Ye and his sibling Meng Lan went into seclusion due to a bout of diarrhea. In hopes of improving He Ye’s health and strength, his fans affectionately gave him the nickname “Big Ox” and the English name “Daniel,” based on the phonetic similarity to “大牛” (Da Niu).

Study Genius: He Ye started his work and public appearances just three days after birth, displaying a strong work ethic. He was highly intelligent, agile, and quick in his movements. By the time he was five months old, he had already learned to climb trees, earning the title of a “study genius” among the young pandas.

Little Theft: In early April 2021, He Ye successfully separated from his biological mother after nine months and began living with his godmother, Aili (艾莉). He was even caught on camera stealing food from Aili’s nest, showing his playful and mischievous side as a humorous little panda.

Gender Misidentification: On January 24, 2024, He Ye, who had been referred to as a “brother,” was transitioned into a “sister,” adding a playful twist to the panda’s story.

Early Care and Foster Mothers: He Ye and her twin sister, He Hua, were separated at nine months old due to their mother’s advanced age and inability to care for both cubs. He Ye was placed under the care of her foster mother, Aili, who is also the wife of He Ye’s elder brother, Gong Zai (功仔). This unique relationship created a special emotional bond between He Ye and Aili. Aili showered He Ye with affection, providing not only nourishment but also constant protection and care.

Growing Up: Under Aili’s attentive care, He Ye thrived in a safe and nurturing environment. She eventually moved to the “Panda Kindergarten,” joining her sister He Hua, as well as her playmates Run Yue (润玥) and Ai Jiu (艾玖). Together, they formed the “Jiu Cai Hua Ye” group, under the watchful eye of caretaker Grandpa Tan.
