Life Experience of Panda Xiang Ge

Birth and Early Life: Xiang Ge was born in the Walnut Flat Wild Training Base, a facility that provides a conducive environment for young pandas to grow and develop.

Relocation Experiences: Throughout his life, Xiang Ge has undergone several relocations that have shaped his experiences. On April 25, 2009, he moved to the Yaan Bifengxia Base, where he continued his upbringing. His first significant public appearance occurred on May 29, 2009, when he was transferred to the Beijing Zoo as one of the “National Day Pandas.” Following this, he frequently moved between the Yaan Bifengxia Base and the Wolong Shenshuping Base. Hair Loss Phenomenon: In May 2023, a concerned netizen shared images of Xiang Ge experiencing hair loss on his back, raising public concern. However, staff at the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base clarified that this is a normal shedding phenomenon. Giant pandas may experience more noticeable hair loss during their mating season or molting period due to their love for playing in water and rubbing their bodies to mark territory. The medical team conducted examinations on Xiang Ge and found no signs of redness, sores, injuries, or parasites in the areas of hair loss.
