Early Life: Wu Wen spent her early years at the Ya’an Bifengxia Base, where she received exceptional care from the staff. As a cub, she was full of energy and displayed an engaging personality. Move to the Netherlands: On April 11, 2017, Wu Wen embarked on a new chapter in her life, traveling with another panda named Xing Ya (星雅) to the Ouwehands Zoo in the Netherlands as part of an international panda exchange program. During her time there, Wu Wen quickly became one of the zoo’s most popular animals, capturing the hearts of the Dutch public. Her playful demeanor and adorable appearance made her an ambassador for panda conservation abroad.
Breeding and Offspring: While living in the Netherlands, Wu Wen successfully bred and gave birth to a cub named “Fan Xing (梵星)” on May 1, 2020. This marked an important milestone in her life as a mother and in the success of the international panda breeding program. Her motherly instincts were further demonstrated when, on July 12, 2024, she gave birth to twin cubs. Tragically, one of the cubs did not survive, but the other, a healthy male, was named “Lang Yue (朗月)” on October 22, 2024.
Debut of Lang Yue: On January 14, 2025, Lang Yue, made her first public appearance at Ouwehands Zoo.
Appearance and Personality
Wu Wen has a well-balanced physique, with her distinctive oval black eye rings and round, expressive ears.
