Wild Training: From birth, Pan Wang has undergone wild training to help her adapt better to a natural environment in the future.
Release Plan: In December 2019, the China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center announced plans to release Pan Wang (潘旺), Ran Ran (冉冉), and Yun Er (云儿) into the Jiangxi Guanshan Nature Reserve. However, this project was ultimately canceled, preventing Pan Wang’s release.
Wild Reintroduction: Pan Wang participated in a wild reintroduction project, and in 2022, she was monitored frequently entering areas densely populated with wild pandas. That same year, she was observed mating with a wild panda, marking the first recorded instance of a captive-bred panda successfully finding a wild mate. In 2023, Pan Wang successfully participated in wild reintroduction and gave birth to twin cubs.
