Intriguing Details of Panda Chu Xin

Relocations: Chu Xin spent her early years at the Walnut Flat Wild Training Base, Wulong Shenshuping Base and the Ya’an Bifengxia Base. In August 2018, she and another female panda, Mu Yun (牧云), were sent to the Northeast Tiger Park in Changchun, becoming the first pair of sub-adult pandas to be raised in a high-latitude region of China for an extended period.

Always Responds: Chu Xin is affectionately called the “talking national treasure” by fans. She can understand her caretakers and respond accordingly. For example, when asked, “Are you Mu Yun or Chu Xin?” she would walk away while making a sound that resembles “Chu Xin.” When the caretaker asked her to call Mu Yun home, she actually did it! Fans say she’s not talkative – just polite, always responding to people.

Loves to Act Cute: Chu Xin is an expert at being adorable. When she finishes her bamboo shoots, she makes soft whining sounds to beg for more. If the caretaker refuses, she lets out a little disappointed hum.

Tree-Climbing Expert: Chu Xin is a skilled climber, often playing, sleeping, or observing her surroundings from high up in the trees. She sometimes even performs impressive splits on the branches. However, she’s not always perfect – once, she accidentally fell from a tree into the yard. Instead of checking for injuries, she quickly scanned her surroundings, as if making sure no one saw her embarrassing moment.
