Life Experience of Panda Jing Jing
Early Life: Jing Jing was born on September 19, 2018, at the Wolong Shenshuping Base of the China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center. After his early years, he was transferred to the Bifengxia Base in Ya’an to continue his growth and development.
Journey to Qatar: Jing Jing’s adventure began on October 18, 2022, with a farewell ceremony held at the Ya’an Base. The following morning, Jing Jing and fellow panda Si Hai boarded a special flight to Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, marking the start of their 15-year residency. This historic journey made Jing Jing one of the first giant pandas to live in the Middle East.
Welcoming Ceremony: Upon arrival in Qatar, Jing Jing and Si Hai (四海) received a warm welcome from the local community. After completing their quarantine period, a grand ceremony was held on November 17 to celebrate the opening of the Panda House, where Jing Jing officially met the public for the first time.
Living Environment: Jing Jing and Si Hai reside in the spacious and bright Panda House, which is equipped with air conditioning to maintain a comfortable temperature. The facility includes a gym, indoor exhibition area, treatment room, food preparation area, and a bamboo preservation room, providing them with a perfect environment to thrive.
