Life Experience of Panda Han Han

Early Life and Personality: Han Han spent his early years at the Bifengxia Base of the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center, where he developed a calm and amiable personality. Known for his introverted and gentle nature, Han Han quickly became a favorite among panda enthusiasts and caretakers alike. His round face, gentle eyes, and perpetual “smile” earned him the affectionate nickname “Smiling Angel.”

Relocation to Dujiangyan Base: In October 2013, Han Han moved to the Dujiangyan Base of the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center, continuing to receive expert care and attention.

Exhibit in Linyi, Shandong: In May 2015, Han Han was sent, along with another panda named Yuan Xin (园欣), to the Linyi Botanical and Zoological Garden in Shandong for public display and exchange purposes. During his time in Linyi, Han Han quickly became a star attraction, drawing large crowds of visitors eager to see the “Smiling Angel.”

Health Concerns: While in Linyi, Han Han’s health came under scrutiny after photographs surfaced showing him appearing thinner than usual, sparking concerns among online communities. However, the zoo reassured the public, explaining that although his weight was slightly lower than expected, it was still within a normal range for a panda of his age. The facility committed to improving his care and management.

Return to Chengdu: In November 2018, due to an upgrade to the panda exhibit at the Linyi Garden, Han Han, along with Tuan Zi (团子), returned to Chengdu to reunite with the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center, where he resumed his life with a renewed focus on conservation and research.
