On June 3, Hongkong Post announced that it will issue five sets of special stamps between July and December, with themes including “Giant Panda Twin Cubs,” “The 24 Solar Terms,” and “Development of Hong Kong’s Aviation Industry.”
Among the highlights is a special stamp set themed “Giant Panda Twin Cubs,” featuring Hong Kong’s first locally born panda twins, “Jia Jia” and “De De.” They are the offspring of “Ying Ying” and “Le Le,” the pair of pandas gifted to Hong Kong by the Central Government. Born on August 15, 2024, Jia Jia and De De have captured the hearts of Hong Kong citizens. The stamps will showcase moments from different stages of their lives.
The “24 Solar Terms” were inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016. Hongkong Post previously issued stamp sets themed on the spring and summer terms in 2020 and 2023 respectively. This year, it will release a new set titled “The 24 Solar Terms – Autumn,” featuring the six autumn terms: Beginning of Autumn, End of Heat, White Dew, Autumn Equinox, Cold Dew, and Frost’s Descent.
In support of the Hong Kong SAR Government’s strategy to develop an “Airport City,” Hongkong Post will also issue a stamp set themed on the “Development of Hong Kong’s Aviation Industry,” showcasing the city’s thriving aviation sector.
The other two upcoming stamp sets include “Hong Kong Hiking Trail Series No. 3: Wilson Trail” and “Christmas Stamps V.”
