According to the giant panda conservation and research cooperation agreement signed between the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda and Ocean Park Hong Kong, a pair of giant pandas, “An An” and “Ke Ke,” will set off for Hong Kong on September 26. They will settle in Ocean Park, becoming the third pair of pandas welcomed by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

“An An,” a male panda, was born in June 2019. He is known for his round head, long body, quick movements, and intelligent, energetic personality. He is outgoing and lively. “Ke Ke,” originally named “Tian Ke,” is a female panda, also born in June 2019. She has a gentle and playful nature, is adept at climbing, and is considered a “tomboy” in the panda world. Both pandas are currently in good health and undergoing quarantine at the Dujiangyan Base of the Panda Research Center.

To ensure that “An An” and “Ke Ke” smoothly travel to Hong Kong and adapt to their new home, the Panda Research Center has conducted comprehensive health assessments. They have also arranged for experts and keepers to engage in in-depth exchanges with four keepers from Ocean Park Hong Kong, allowing them to familiarize themselves with the pandas’ personalities and habits and build trust with them. When “An An” and “Ke Ke” depart for Hong Kong, the Panda Research Center will send one keeper and one veterinarian to accompany them and stay for a period to help the pandas quickly adapt to their new home.

Currently, both the Panda Research Center and Ocean Park Hong Kong are making all necessary preparations for the transportation, ensuring the safe and healthy arrival of the two pandas.
