Life Experience of Panda Qiu Bang
Life in Japan: Qiu Bang, along with his twin brother Long Bang, made history as the world’s first pair of panda twins to be naturally raised by their mother in captivity. They spent their early years at the “Adventure World” theme park in Shirahama, Wakayama, Japan.
Return to China: On October 28, 2007, Qiu Bang and Long Bang were returned to China and sent to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. After a three-month quarantine period, they were officially introduced to the public.
Reloation to Shenzhen: In April 2017, Qiu Bang was transferred to Shenzhen Wild Animal Park, where he sahred the same outer enclosure with another panda Yuan Zhou (圆舟). Interestingly, Yuan Zhou piles up a bunch of poop at Qiu Bang’s door every day – perhaps a unique way to declare his dominance. But Qiu Bang would just ignore it.
Birthday Celebration: On September 10, 2022, Shenzhen Wild Animal Park celebrated Qiu Bang’s 19th birthday, marking another milestone in his long and successful life.
