On October 9, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding announced a case where a tourist was banned for life after flying a drone without permission. This incident quickly attracted attention online. Besides unauthorized drone flying, what other behaviors are prohibited at the panda base? Reporters compiled several typical cases previously reported—let’s take a look.
Do Not Feed, Throw Objects, or Splash Water
The animals at the panda base follow a strict diet to ensure their health and safety. Visitors are strictly prohibited from feeding them any food brought from outside, as it may harm them. Previously, a visitor named Tian threw an apple into the activity area of Panda Villa No. 2. As a result, Tian was permanently banned from entering the panda base (including Panda Valley).
Another visitor, Liang, fed peanuts to pandas in the activity area of the panda villa for young pandas. The staff immediately stopped the behavior and cleaned the debris from the area. Liang was banned for life from entering the park. Similarly, a visitor named Zhong spat water at a panda in the Panda Villa No. 1 activity area and was banned from visiting the base for five years.
In another case, a visitor named Su (male, 51) threw objects into the outdoor activity area at the Shen Shuping Panda Base in Wolong and was permanently banned from visiting the site.
Do Not Disturb the Pandas
Visitors must maintain a safe distance and avoid shouting, as this could disturb the pandas. Previously, a visitor named Luo tapped on the glass of the panda enclosure at the Moonlight Maternity House. This behavior was stopped in time, and Luo was banned from the panda base for five years.
Another visitor, Song, used a selfie stick to tease a panda in the young panda villa at the Chengdu Research Base. Due to Song’s uncivilized behavior, which could harm the panda, Song was banned for life from visiting the panda base (including Panda Valley).
No Pets Allowed in the Park
Bringing pets into the panda base poses a potential threat to both the health of the pandas and the safety of visitors. The panda base has clearly stated that pets are not allowed in the park. Previously, four visitors, including Li, were caught sneaking a pet into the Shen Shuping Panda Base in Wolong by hiding it in a backpack. Despite being aware of the rules, they violated the park’s regulations. Security escorted them out, and all were banned for life due to the potential danger their actions posed to the pandas.
In another incident, a visitor named Zhu, knowing that pets were not allowed, tried to evade security by hiding a pet in a backpack during the security check. Zhu was banned for life from the Shen Shuping Panda Base for violating the park’s rules and posing a potential threat to the pandas.
Other Guidelines for a Civilized Visit
In addition, please do not use flash photography, as it may scare the animals and cause accidents. Follow the park’s rules and listen to the staff’s instructions during your visit. Refrain from loud talking or shouting, and always maintain a safe distance. Do not cross safety barriers, tease, or scare the animals. Be mindful of your own safety and that of other visitors.
