Shenzhen-Chengdu “Panda Tourism Train” Launches

On the evening of January 17, the inaugural event for the Shenzhen ⇋ Chengdu “Panda Tourism Train” was held in Shenzhen. The D962 sleeper train, decorated with panda-themed designs, departed from Shenzhen North Station. After more than 11 hours of travel, it arrived at Chengdu East Station.

The D962 train has been officially named the “Panda Tourism Train.” The train’s design showcases the adorable giant panda as its centerpiece, with intricate details that highlight Chengdu’s cultural charm, Sichuan’s distinctive flavors, and the festive spirit of the Chinese New Year. Upon entering the train, passengers will notice panda-themed decorations and custom signage throughout, with an abundance of Chengdu elements that create a unique atmosphere.

Inside the train, items related to Chengdu’s attractions are readily available. In the seatback storage pockets and on the dining car tables, passengers will find reading materials about Chengdu’s twelve scenic spots for the Chinese New Year, inbound tourism to Chengdu, and special shopping offers during the Spring Festival. Additionally, the dining car displays Chengdu’s World University Games licensed creative products and distinctive “Chengdu Gifts” merchandise. Passengers can scan QR codes to purchase these items, perfect for souvenirs or gifts for friends and family.
