Life Experience of Panda Yue Yue
Birth and Growth: Yue Yue was born during a challenging time for giant panda breeding, which garnered significant attention from experts. She was conceived through natural mating under artificial breeding conditions and faced numerous obstacles early in life. Shortly after her birth, her mother, Jia Jia, developed a skin condition that led to several separations between them, requiring artificial feeding. Despite these challenges, Yue Yue thrived and grew into a healthy panda.
Reproduction and Offspring: On August 21, 2000, Yue Yue gave birth to her only cub, Long Sheng (龙升), at the China Giant Panda Protection Research Center. Under her attentive care, Long Sheng grew up healthily.
Relocation and Return: On December 18, 2005, Yue Yue was transferred to the Guilin Seven Star Park Zoo, where she became the new resident panda, replacing another panda that had passed away. Known affectionately as the “Seven Star Pavilion Master,” Yue Yue quickly became a favorite among local residents and visitors, gaining star status at the zoo. After a successful stay in Guilin, she returned to the China Giant Panda Protection Research Center in Dujiangyan on October 14, 2016.
Later Years and Death: In her later years, Yue Yue’s health began to decline due to kidney failure and multiple tumors. Despite her challenges, she remained a beloved figure until her passing on August 4, 2023, at the age of 30 (about 110 years old in human).
