Panda Shuang Shuang (双双) is a male giant panda born on June 23, 2019, at Chongqing Zoo. As one of the twin cubs born to the panda Lan Xiang, Shuang Shuang quickly became a favorite among both zoo staff and visitors. His journey from birth to his current life has been marked by careful nurturing, public interest, and even a unique adoption story, making him a well-known figure in the world of giant pandas.

Growth and Development

Shuang Shuang was born on June 23, 2019, at Chongqing Zoo, along with his twin brother, Zhong Zhong. On the same day, another panda named Mang Zai (莽仔) gave birth to a pair of twin sisters, Xi Xi and Qing Qing. On September 30, 2019, Chongqing Zoo held a naming ceremony for these four panda cubs, during which Shuang Shuang’s name was officially given.

From birth, Shuang Shuang received meticulous care from the zoo’s staff, who worked around the clock in shifts to ensure the health and well-being of the panda cubs. Their dedication paid off as Shuang Shuang grew into a healthy and playful young panda.

In a heartwarming turn of events, on September 5, 2023, Shuang Shuang and his brother Zhong Zhong were officially adopted for life by a well-known food brand, Weilong. The company gave them the nicknames “Ba Xiao Bao” and “Dao Xiao Bei,” respectively, further increasing their fame and the public’s affection for these charming twin pandas.
