The “Panda Planet” immersive light and shadow exhibition, a collaboration between CCTV Panda Channel, Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, and Guangta Digital Science & Technology, opened its global debut on January 26, 2025, in a trial operation at the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base.

The global premiere of Panda Planet 2025 centers on the past and present of the giant panda. By creating fully scanned, realistic digital assets, the exhibition maximizes the 1:1 restoration of the real landscape and vegetation. It offers visitors an immersive experience of the changing seasons and the magnificent wonders of nature over the past 8 million years. Through digital art, light and shadow effects, virtual reality, and other interactive technologies, the exhibition vividly showcases the growth and communication stories of giant pandas—from their birth and development as infants to their maturity, from domestic life to global exchanges. It aims to be an excellent platform for the public, especially families, to explore and understand the giant panda and its coexisting species through a combination of sound, light, and digital technologies.

In addition, the Panda Planet 2025 exhibition has specially created engaging scenes such as “Hua Hua’s Garden,” a sci-fi panda-themed landmark, and a newborn panda nursery box to enhance the interactive experience for visitors.
The giant panda, which dates back 8 million years, is a beloved symbol of China and a flagship species for global biodiversity conservation. It has spread joy and friendship across the world. The Panda Planet exhibition, which is now open at the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, fully integrates research findings from the panda expert team. It digitally restores the evolutionary history of giant pandas and their coexisting species, allowing visitors to learn more about their past and present. Rare educational visuals of panda births, growth, breeding, and wild release are also included, offering an in-depth understanding of the giant panda’s journey through time.

The immersive light and shadow exhibition of Panda Planet is scheduled to begin a global tour later this year, bringing the adorable image of the giant panda and its beautiful story to audiences around the world.
