Jia Bao (家宝/Jiabao) is the kind of panda who turns every moment into an adventure. Whether he’s rescuing himself from a sticky situation or carefully protecting his bamboo from rain, his playful spirit is impossible to resist. This lively panda’s journey has taken him from Wolong to Ya’an and, most recently, Lanzhou, where he continues to capture hearts with his determination, curiosity, and, of course, his love for bamboo.

Intriguing Details of Panda Jia Bao
Stuck Incident: Jia Bao is lively and adorable, enjoying climbing trees and playing. One time, while playing with a friend on a tree, Jia Bao accidentally got his leg stuck in a crack and couldn’t get it out. The surrounding cubs saw the situation and rushed to help, but despite their efforts, they couldn’t free him. In the end, the keeper used tools to cut off the branches and successfully rescued Jia Bao. Throughout the incident, Jia Bao remained calm and even did not stop enjoy bamboo shoots.
Food Lover: One time, while Jia Bao was eating, it suddenly started raining. To protect his food from getting wet, Jia Bao decided to take the bamboo shoots home. He picked the largest bamboo shoot and held it in his mouth, then chose a thinner one. However, since his mouth wasn’t large enough, the bamboo fell to the ground. Jia Bao didn’t give up, though, and eventually managed to hold both bamboo shoots in his mouth, even though his mouth was nearly stretched to the limit, and hurried back home.
Life Experience of Panda Jia Bao
Move to Yan’an: In 2023, Jia Bao was relocated from Wolong to the Ya’an Base, marking the next phase of his life. On November 29, 2023, the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center shared a video of Jia Bao enjoying bamboo on his second day at Ya’an, delighting panda lovers.
Relocate to Lanzhou: In April 2024, Jia Bao, along with fellow pandas Hong Xi (鸿禧), Man Lan (曼兰), and Man Man (满满), was transferred to Lanzhou Wildlife Zoo. After a 20-day adjustment period, Jia Bao made his public debut on April 25, 2024, where he received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from visitors.
