Intriguing Details of Panda Ji Mei
Gray Little Bear: When Ji Mei was born, he wasn’t the traditional black and white panda, but rather a grayish-white little bear. Under the careful care of his mother and nanny, he gradually “colored up” and grew into a strong and handsome giant panda.
Fixed Sleeping Spot: As a young panda, Ji Mei was particularly stubborn about a specific tree. Every time he wanted to sleep, he would climb up this tree and arrange himself in various challenging sleeping positions on the branches, completely oblivious to anyone trying to wake him. For Ji Mei, this little tree was his “personal territory,” and no one was allowed to invade. If he found other friends occupying his favorite tree, Ji Mei would not hesitate to show off his “combat strength.”
Settle in Nanning: On December 13, 2019, Ji Mei, along with his twin sister Ji Lan, was transferred to Nanning Zoo to participate in a three-year public education program. In 2022, the program was further extended, so Ji Mei still lives at Nanning Zoo now.
