Intriguing Details of Panda Gang Beng Er

Affectionate Nature: Gang Beng Er is known for his incredibly friendly demeanor. When he encounters visitors, he eagerly approaches them, greeting them with playful sounds. He often rolls around and performs gestures like clasping his paws together, demonstrating his high level of sociability and interaction.

Wild Training: Gang Beng Er grew up participating in wild training with his mother. Although he successfully met the standards for being released into the wild, he ultimately returned to the Bifengxia Base. There are many speculations about the reasons behind this. First, the COVID-19 pandemic caused staff shortages, and none of the pandas from that batch were released. Second, Gang Beng Er is extremely fond of humans, raising concerns that he might return to human-populated areas after being released. Third, as the only offspring of Xiang Lin, he carries the important responsibility of continuing his bloodline.

Social Butterfly: While at the Bifengxia Base, Gang Beng Er formed a close friendship with a neighboring panda named Xiang Xiang (香香). Gang Beng Er greets Xiang Xiang through the wall every day and sometimes waits by the wall for her to appear. Since Japanese visitors coming to see Princess Xiang Xiang pass by Gang Beng Er’s enclosure first, he has been affectionately nicknamed “Director of Xiang Xiang’s Reception Office.”

Weight Issues: During his growth, Gang Beng Er faced challenges with being overweight. To manage Gang Beng Er’s weight, the staff implemented several measures. They adjusted his diet to include more fruits and vegetables while encouraging him to engage in more physical activity. However, up to now, his weight loss efforts have not been successful.
