Bai Ji (白吉/Baiji), with her quiet strength and independent spirit, is a panda like no other. Born on July 19, 2021, at the Wolong Shenshuping Base, she shares her roots with her twin brother Dong Qia, both representing the majestic spirit of the region. Named after Tibetan and Qiang words for “panda,” Bai Ji’s presence is an enchanting blend of tranquility and determination, with a heart as big as her beautiful black-and-white fur.

Intriguing Details of Panda Bai Ji

Name Origin: On November 22, 2022, a special ceremony was held in Maerkang City, Aba Prefecture, Sichuan, where Bai Ji’s name was officially revealed after an online naming campaign. Both Bai Ji and her brother Dong Qia’s names are transliterations of the Tibetan and Qiang words for “panda,” symbolizing their unique identity as ambassadors for Aba Prefecture.

Independent Life: As Bai Ji and Dong Qia grew older, their territorial instincts became stronger, leading to frequent fights from morning till night. Therefore, in April 2024, the center decided to separate them. Dong Qia was moved to the Dujiangyan Panda Base, while Bai Ji remained at Shenshuping.
