On September 6, local time, “Ryo Bin,” a female giant panda living at Adventure World in Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, celebrated her 24th birthday. To express their gratitude to “Ryo Bin,” the staff prepared a special birthday gift—an image of her created from bamboo leaves on artificial snow, along with birthday wishes written with split bamboo.
Once “Ryo Bin” entered the indoor play area, she eagerly began munching on the bamboo. She also hugged an ice block on the artificial snow and tumbled several times. Keeper Natsuki Shinotani commented, “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Ryo Bin play like this. I hope she continues to stay healthy and enjoy delicious bamboo.”

Born in 2000 at Adventure World, “Ryo Bin” was the first giant panda to be born at this facility. She has since given birth to two male and eight female cubs, showcasing her talent in “child-rearing” and boosting the popularity of the pandas at the facility. Although 24 years old, which is equivalent to about 70 years in human age, “Ryo Bin” remains healthy.
Visitors expressed their delight at seeing “Ryo Bin,” saying, “It’s wonderful to see her, and I hope she stays vibrant.” Another visitor added, “She’s so cute! I hope she remains healthy for a long time.”
