Chongqing Zoo’s Giant Panda Cub Makes Its Debut

On the morning of September 28, Chongqing Zoo held a special event introducing the giant panda “Haoqi” and her cub, who is now three months old. The panda cub made its official public debut, delighting visitors.

“Haoqi,” born at Chongqing Zoo, is the fourth cub of pandas “Lingling” and “Yaya.” The baby panda was named by renowned physicist and Nobel Prize laureate Dr. Samuel Ting. On June 28 this year, “Haoqi” successfully gave birth to her cub, who is now three months old. Since birth, the cub has been nursed by her mother, with some assistance from zookeepers. The baby panda is growing well, currently weighing 5,805 grams.

“Depending on the weather, the panda cub will occasionally meet with visitors. We welcome the public to visit during the National Day holiday and possibly catch a glimpse of the little one,” said Chongqing Zoo officials. The cub is very attached to her mother, “Haoqi,” and has now opened her eyes and begun learning to crawl.

During the National Day holiday, Chongqing Zoo will host various activities, including educational tours, the “Celebrate National Day with Animals” event, and the opening of the “Insect Market” at the Giant Panda Pavilion and the new “Dundun Tea Shop” at the Red Panda Pavilion.

On October 1 (National Day) and October 4 (World Animal Day), the zoo will hold a “Together with Animals” face painting activity at the Waterfowl Lake Plaza. Chongqing Zoo, in collaboration with volunteers from vocational schools (makeup artists), will offer free face painting for visitors, allowing them to sport animal designs and feel closer to nature alongside the zoo’s animals.
