China’s National Treasure Giant Pandas Win the Hearts of Russian Kids

On June 9, the Yabuli Ski Resort welcomed a group of young visitors from Russia. When the blue eyes of Russian children met the black-and-white charm of giant pandas Sixia and Youyou, a heartwarming cross-cultural ecological exchange quietly unfolded.

Surrounded by lush greenery in the panda pavilion, the children were captivated by Sixia’s graceful strolls and Youyou’s adorable bamboo munching. As the keepers demonstrated how to split bamboo and prepared the pandas’ “afternoon tea,” the young volunteers eagerly stepped forward to try it themselves under the guidance of the “panda dads.” “So it’s not easy to prepare food for pandas,” the children exclaimed, their curious faces full of wonder as they experienced firsthand the care and precision required to be a panda “chef.”

After saying goodbye to the pandas, the children’s excitement soared in the petting zoo. They fed carrots to alpacas, felt miniature horses nuzzle their palms, watched monkeys catch fruit, and saw brown bears beg for food. Every cautious feeding was met with joyful cheers and bursts of laughter.
