On August 4th, the giant panda “Zhen Duo” celebrated its 10th birthday at Yunnan Wildlife Park. The park organized a warm birthday party for Zhen Duo and used the occasion to educate the public about giant pandas’ habits, diet, and conservation efforts.
In addition to Zhen Duo’s usual favorite treats of bamboo shoots, bamboo leaves, and bamboo poles, the keepers prepared a unique fruit cake made from bamboo leaves, watermelon, pineapple, and apple pieces. They also created a special birthday gift—a wooden rocking horse made from bamboo.

At 10:30 AM, amid the excitement of the crowd, Zhen Duo nonchalantly walked from its room to its favorite activity area. The panda curiously sniffed the bamboo rocking horse and was attracted by the honey on it. Zhen Duo then headed straight to the birthday cake and began eating without hesitation.
During the birthday event, Yunnan Wildlife Park hosted a series of interactive activities. Educational guides demonstrated the daily diet of giant pandas, including bamboo, bamboo leaves, “wo wo tou” (steamed buns), and supplements. They also provided detailed information about giant pandas using their feces and food. Visitors to the event received commemorative badges for Zhen Duo’s 10th birthday, sugar paintings made by traditional artisans, and digital panda-themed oil paintings.
