Twin Giant Pandas “Rui Bao” and “Hui Bao” Celebrate First Birthday in South Korea

On July 7, twin giant pandas “Rui Bao (睿宝)” and “Hui Bao (辉宝),” born in South Korea, celebrated their first birthday. Everland hosted a birthday event for them on the same day.

Everland invited over 60 fans to the event, which was also streamed live on its official YouTube and Samsung TV Plus channels. The zookeepers prepared wooden toy cars and a large cake made of bamboo, steamed corn bread, and carrots for the panda cubs.

One of the highlights of the event was the “Zhua Zhou” ceremony. Everland prepared five bamboo-made items for the pandas to choose from, each symbolizing a different blessing: a writing brush (wisdom), a gavel (honor), a ball (talent), a microphone (popularity), and a barbell (health). “Rui Bao” chose the barbell, symbolizing health, while “Hui Bao” selected the microphone, symbolizing popularity.

Prior to this, Everland held a public prediction event starting July 1 to guess the results of the “Zhua Zhou” ceremony, attracting over 20,000 participants. Fans had predicted that “Rui Bao” and “Hui Bao” would choose the writing brush and the ball, respectively.

“Rui Bao” and “Hui Bao” are the twin daughters of giant panda couple “Le Bao” and “Ai Bao,” born on July 7, 2023, in South Korea. They are the younger twin sisters of “Fu Bao,” the first giant panda born in South Korea.
