On January 8, the Beijing Zoo Management Office issued a notice announcing the suspension of video updates on the giant panda Gu Gu. The details are as follows:
Gu Gu has been receiving care in the zoo’s backstage area for nearly a year. During this period, the zoo has regularly shared videos of Gu Gu to keep the public informed about the panda’s condition. As the new year begins, Gu Gu has aged, and various health indicators have declined. Recently, Gu Gu has shown signs such as abdominal swelling, decreased appetite, slower movement, and increased rest time.

To create a more suitable environment for Gu Gu’s rest and care as an elderly panda, and to reduce external disturbances, the zoo has decided to temporarily stop releasing video updates on Gu Gu.
The zoo has implemented a specific care plan for Gu Gu, and the animal care team, including keepers and veterinarians, will continue to monitor her closely. Further updates on Gu Gu’s condition will be shared through the zoo’s official Weibo account as appropriate, based on her health status.
