Southern Hemisphere’s Panda Stars “Wang Wang” and “Fu Ni” Return to China

At 16:43 Beijing time on November 15, the giant pandas Wang Wang and Fu Ni safely landed at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport aboard a special flight. As the first pair of pandas to reside in Australia, their return to China marks a successful conclusion to their stay abroad.

Following their arrival, Wang Wang and Fu Ni were transported to the Shenshuping Base of the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center in Wolong, where they will undergo a one-month quarantine.

To prepare for their return, the Shenshuping Base has made comprehensive arrangements, including disinfecting the enclosures, ensuring a steady food supply, providing meticulous care, and implementing health safeguards for the pandas.

As part of a new round of cooperative panda conservation research between China and Australia, another panda pair, Xing Qiu and Yi Lan, is scheduled to travel to Adelaide Zoo in Australia this December.
