Intriguing Details of Panda Lun Hui

Appearance: Lun Hui has a unique triangular-shaped head reminiscent of a bicycle seat, with smaller ears compared to his peers. Among the five giant pandas born at the same time, Lun Hui boasts the whitest fur and has a relatively slender face.

Time on the Tree: Lun Hui is a nimble and agile giant panda who loves hanging out in trees. When the zookeepers call the pandas back, the other cubs obediently return home, but Lun Hui stubbornly stays in the tree and refuses to come down. One time, it was very hot, and the zookeepers were concerned that Lun Hui might overheat outdoors, so they tried to guide him down with the help of small apples as bait. However, Lun Hui turned it into a game of “chase me,” running away from the zookeepers. In the end, they had to call in a few strong colleagues, who used a ladder to climb up and together carried Lun Hui back home.

Sister Jin Xiao: Under the care of his “godmother” Zhao Mei (昭美), Lun Hui became acquainted with the lively and adorable Jin Xiao (金宵). The two were a pair of sibling-like rivals from a young age, constantly fighting and arguing, which often gave Zhao Mei a headache. However, over time, Lun Hui’s affection for Jin Xiao grew, and he began following her everywhere she went. Once, while Jin Xiao was playing on a swing, Lun Hui insisted on joining her. After much persistence, he finally succeeded in sitting on the swing with her.

Refusing to Go Home: As Lun Hui grew older, he was cared for by Grandpa Tan. Whenever Grandpa Tan called the little pandas back home, Lun Hui would refuse to leave the yard, insisting that Grandpa Tan come and fetch him. Grandpa Tan had to place a bowl of milk in front of Lun Hui to guide him back. However, Lun Hui was quite clever; after sniffing the bowl, he wouldn’t hurry to act. He would only follow Grandpa Tan after he was fed some of the tasty milk. Sometimes, even when Grandpa Tan had led Lun Hui to the doorstep, Lun Hui would suddenly stop and become fascinated by a stone, a tree stump, or even a bamboo pole, playing happily and ignoring the call to go home.
