Life Experience of Panda Bo Si
Early Years: Bo Si was born alongside her twin brother, Shen Wei, and the two were adopted by the “Bo Si Shen Wei” menswear brand, which is how Bo Si got her name.
Guangzhou Asian Games: In October 2010, Bo Si and Shen Wei were sent to Guangzhou Chimelong Safari Park (then known as Guangzhou Panyu Xiangjiang Safari Park) to participate in activities related to the 2010 Asian Games. During her time at the park, Bo Si quickly gained recognition for her intelligence and agility, particularly in finding food that the keepers had hidden.
Remarkable Prediction: On the eve of the first gold medal at the Asian Games, Bo Si was the first among 12 pandas to step up and make a prediction – and she got it right. Keepers prepared two types of food: bamboo shoots representing Chinese athletes and apples symbolizing foreign competitors. Without hesitation, Bo Si chose the bamboo shoots, and sure enough, China’s Yuan Xiaochao claimed the first gold. While other pandas like Hui Hui (回回), Dong Dong (冬冬), and Yao Yao (耀耀) took turns predicting afterward – only to fail – Bo Si’s accuracy earned her the prestigious title of “Panda Emperor.”
Move to Bifengxia Base: On February 16, 2017, Bo Si moved back to the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Ya’an Bifengxia Base, where she resumed her role in the panda breeding program. Less than a month later, she was relocated to the Wolong Shenshuping Base (China Giant Panda National Park), where she continued her conservation journey.
Breeding Achievements of Panda Bo Si
On August 7, 2017, Bo Si gave birth to twin sons, Xing An (兴安) and Ming Ming (明明), at Shenshuping. Unfortunately, Xing An passed away before reaching one year old. Ming Ming, the eldest brother of Bo Si’s family, was transferred to Yueyang Chinese Panda Garden on July 18, 2023. He is strong and robust, skilled at climbing trees, and spends his days eating, sleeping, and strolling around the enclosure, often chatting with his younger sister, Xi Yue (喜悦).
On August 13, 2018, Bo Si gave birth to a pair of fraternal twins, a brother and sister named Xiang Ye (向野) and Tian Tian (田田), at Shenshuping. Their names reflect the center’s high hopes for their wild training and future reintroduction. Tian Tian was raised by her mother through the wild training program, while Xiang Ye, despite having a gentle and innocent-looking face, has an energetic and mischievous personality. Known for his dominant presence at Shenshuping, he earned the title of the “Little Warlord of the 2018 Class” and shares a close bond with Yuan Xiao (元宵).
On June 21, 2022, Bo Si gave birth to twin daughters, Rong Sheng (融生) and Qing Ci (青糍), at Hetaoping. Rong Sheng was raised by Bo Si in the wild training program, while her younger sister, Qing Ci, was raised by Ying Hua (瑛华) alongside Xiao Jiu (小九) and Hua Bao (华宝). At six months old, Qing Ci was adopted by Xiamen Qingci Interactive Technology Co., Ltd., and given the adoption name “Qing Ci.” Sadly, on March 23, 2024, Qing Ci passed away due to complications from a rare intestinal obstruction and intussusception, despite rescue efforts.
