Giant Pandas Gifted to Hong Kong Complete Quarantine and Visit Their New Home!

“‘An An’ and ‘Ke Ke’ have finally completed their quarantine!” On October 27, reporters from Hong Kong Ocean Park learned that the giant pandas gifted from the central government, “An An” and “Ke Ke,” have finished their 30-day quarantine and have left their rooms for the first time to visit their new home in the park.

On October 26, Hong Kong Ocean Park released a video stating, “The first thing after completing quarantine is, of course, to visit the new home we’ve prepared for them! Next, ‘An An’ and ‘Ke Ke’ will adapt in the exhibit area and get familiar with their new environment.”

In the video, the adorable “An An” and “Ke Ke” are seen in their separate exhibits at the Sichuan Treasures Pavilion. “An An” stepped out of its room into the exhibit area, looking around curiously and sniffing the surroundings. “Ke Ke” attempted to climb the facilities, skillfully reaching a tree stump-shaped “throne.”

Previously reported by Southern Metropolis Daily, in early October, Liang Jialun, the assistant curator of the Ocean Park’s Animal Department and a “panda dad,” described the personalities of the two pandas. “An An” is lively and loves to explore its surroundings, while “Ke Ke” is more reserved and initially showed resistance when approached, often walking away when touched—”a bit of a ‘spicy pepper’ in personality.”

After completing their 30-day quarantine, the two giant pandas will need another month to adapt in the exercise area. They may have the opportunity to meet the public as soon as mid-December, but the specific timing will depend on their adaptation and behavioral changes.
