To celebrate the 11th birthday of giant panda siblings “Xing Yi” and “Ya Yi,” Guangzhou Zoo held a warm birthday party on the 27th, decorated with themes of “Riding the Wind and Breaking the Waves” and “Abundant Harvest,” wishing them health and happiness.
Xing Yi, the elder brother, was born on August 23, 2013, and his sister, Ya Yi, was born on August 27, 2013.

At the birthday party, the sounds of “Happy Birthday” filled the panda house. In addition to a delicious birthday cake made of bamboo and fruit ice, there were various themed enrichment activities for the two birthday stars. Caregivers carved a “birthday cruise ship” from winter melon for Xing Yi, topped with an assortment of fruits, symbolizing “Riding the Wind and Breaking the Waves.” Next to the “cruise ship” was a “coconut tree” made of bamboo and leaves, along with bamboo wind chimes, and the ground was covered with crushed ice, starfish, and sea shells.
Ya Yi received a colorful and romantic fruit flower wall. This birthday flower wall, made up of various flowers and fruits such as watermelon and apples, symbolized “Abundant Harvest.” Above the venue hung a bamboo sieve painted with a picture of Ya Yi, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Around 9 a.m., Xing Yi and Ya Yi began to enjoy their birthday feast. Xing Yi was the first to notice the starfish; after curiously sniffing it, he quickly turned to the bamboo, returning to his “food king” posture, eating while playing with the wind chimes. Upon her arrival, Ya Yi immediately rushed towards her favorite shredded fruit, rubbing her head, scratching her body, and rolling around, giving herself a “full-body massage.” In her excitement, she accidentally knocked over the cake, causing a commotion. Later, Ya Yi approached the hanging bamboo sieve, effortlessly grabbing it with her mouth, showcasing her “yoga queen” skills.
It is reported that the father of both giant pandas, Xing Yi and Ya Yi, is “Yong Yong,” with Xing Yi’s mother being “Xing Rong” and Ya Yi’s mother being “Xing Ya.”

The zoo also set up a science education booth at the birthday party, promoting knowledge about giant pandas through commemorative stamps and interactive games, encouraging civilized viewing of the pandas.
