Giant Panda Fubao Latest Health Check Results

On December 14th, the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda released a video showing that giant panda “Fubao” has been in good spirits, with a healthy appetite and active behavior in recent days.

Tests for several viruses, including Canine Distemper Virus, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Coronavirus, Rotavirus, and Babesia, all returned negative results.

Routine blood tests, biochemical analysis, tumor markers, thyroid function, and trace element tests showed no significant abnormalities. Fubao will continue to receive care and monitoring in her indoor enclosure.

In the near future, the veterinary team will collaborate with relevant experts to design further diagnostic plans based on Fubao’s clinical condition and the results of various tests.

Giant Panda Fubao Latest Health Check Results

Earlier, on the morning of December 3rd, the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda announced that abnormal behavior was observed in giant panda “Fubao” at the Shenshuping Base. The panda was being closely monitored, and plans were made to move her to an indoor area for a thorough checkup to better understand the cause of the abnormalities. The public was assured that updates on Fubao’s condition would be released promptly.

“Fubao” is a female giant panda born on July 20, 2020, at the Everland Zoo in South Korea. She is the first Chinese giant panda born in South Korea and is affectionately known as “Princess Fubao” or “The Fubao of Yongin.” Her parents are giant pandas “Hwanhee” and “Yuanxin.”

On April 3rd of this year, Fubao returned to her homeland in Sichuan, where she is now living at the Shenshuping Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.

When Fubao was born, she measured 16.5 cm in length and weighed 197 grams. Following her birth, the zoo held a naming contest for the first giant panda born in Korea, and the name “Fubao,” meaning “a treasure that brings happiness,” won with 17,000 votes. Fubao made her public debut at Everland Zoo’s “Panda World” on January 4, 2021.

Since her birth, Fubao has become a beloved figure in South Korea, earning the title of a “superstar.” Videos of Fubao shared on social media by Everland Zoo have garnered over 500 million views.
