The Berlin Zoo announced on the 15th that starting from the 16th, the twin cubs born to the giant panda “Meng Meng” in August will officially take turns meeting the public.
On that day, the Berlin Zoo held a media conference where one of the panda cubs made an appearance, attracting the attention of several Chinese and German media outlets.
Starting from October 16, the two panda cubs will take turns meeting the public from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, while the other will be cared for by their mother, “Meng Meng.”

“Previously, only our team had the opportunity to observe the growth of the panda cubs. Now we can finally allow visitors to participate as well,” said Andreas Knieriem, the director of the Berlin Zoo. He hopes that the panda cubs will be loved by everyone and that this will raise awareness of the protection of their natural habitat.
Since giant pandas typically only raise one cub when giving birth to twins, a team of experts is assisting “Meng Meng” in caring for the cubs. This team includes two experts from the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, who provide round-the-clock care for the panda cubs.

The Berlin Zoo stated that it will take some time before the twins can be seen with “Meng Meng” in the panda enclosure. In nature, male giant pandas do not participate in raising cubs, so the father, “Jiao Qing,” can still leisurely eat bamboo in the panda exhibit for visitors to enjoy.
“Meng Meng” and the male giant panda “Jiao Qing” arrived at the Berlin Zoo from Chengdu, China, in June 2017, beginning a 15-year residency. On August 31, 2019, “Meng Meng” successfully gave birth to a pair of male twins, named “Dream” and “Dream Round,” marking the first giant panda birth in Germany. The twin brothers returned to China last December. On August 22 of this year, “Meng Meng” gave birth to her second pair of twins at the Berlin Zoo.
