The station hall, ticket booths, and even the exterior arch beams are adorned with charming panda-themed artwork, creating a fun and playful atmosphere. The entire project is expected to be completed by December 25.
Panda Elements Everywhere at Zoo Station
Recently, a video showing the upgrades at Zoo Station was shared online, catching the attention of many netizens. Many commented with phrases like “so cute” and “looks like another must-visit spot for selfies.”
Located next to the Chongqing Zoo, the Zoo Station is an important transport hub for tourists and locals visiting the zoo, particularly to see the famous giant pandas.
When reporters visited Zoo Station on November 12, the renovation was already showing its initial results. From the station hall to the platform, panda images are everywhere, from wall decorations to ticket booth designs, giving passengers a fresh and adorable visual experience.
Upon entering the station hall, the first thing that catches the eye is a giant panda mural on the ceiling, vividly depicting the playful and cute nature of giant pandas. This mural has quickly become a popular photo spot for passengers. In addition to the main ticket booth, a smaller booth has also been revamped with clever panda-themed elements, transforming into a cute panda shape that draws attention.
Outside the station, the newly painted arch beams are especially eye-catching. The overall color scheme is green, with hand-painted pandas and bamboo leaves incorporated into the design. The pandas are depicted in various poses—lying down, sitting, and more—creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The revamped Zoo Station has garnered widespread praise. On the same day, Xiao Peng, a tourist from Anhui, made a special trip to take Metro Line 2 to Chongqing Zoo to see the famous “Four Joy Meatballs.” Xiao Peng said, “As soon as I got to Zoo Station, I could feel the strong panda atmosphere. I took lots of photos and videos with my friends, and it’s so cute. The subway station really matches the zoo!”
“It’s so adorable! From a distance, I could already tell we were close to the zoo, and my excitement was through the roof!” said Xiao Li, a tourist from Yunnan, who also praised the station’s unique charm. She added that during her visit to Chongqing, she was excited not only to see the giant pandas but also to experience the city’s special appeal.
Construction workers on site explained that future upgrades will include panda-themed guide signs, turnstile gates, and 3D-printed giant panda sculptures. Work is progressing quickly, and the team hopes to complete the project soon so that the public can enjoy the updated station. The renovation is expected to be finished by December 25.
